We recommend Linux over both Windows and MacOS. MacOS is more secure and private than Windows but it still requires quite a bit of personal information. The user must have a high trust in Apple in order to feel private.

Linux comes in many flavors called distributions or distros for short. These distributions are more similar than they are different. We recommend a few.

Networking #

We recommend the following routers which allow you to run your entire network behind a VPN using one of the providers we recommend. These routers also allow you to install software that will protect you from malware and content you may not want on your network.

Travel Router Suitable for Small Spaces #

If you have a small home or apartment the GL-MT3000 Beryl AX by GL.iNet is a powerful little device.

Home Router #

For 2+ bedroom homes we recommend the Flint 2 (GL-MT6000) GL.iNet.
